contraception and your cycle
There are a range of contraception options out there that can help you control your period and protect you from an unplanned pregnancy.
Remember though, the only form of contraception that protects against unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections is a condom.
Different methods suit different people, so before making a decision, it is a good idea to look at the different options available and find out about their advantages and disadvantages.
Your contraception options include:
- Hormonal Methods: the pill, NuvaRing, Implanon, Depo-Provera injection
- Barrier Methods: male condom, female condom, diaphragm-cap
- Intrauterine Methods: IUD Multiload, IUS Mirena
- Permanent Methods: female sterilisation, vasectomy
- Emergency Methods: emergency contraceptive pill/morning after pill, IUD
For full details, advantages and disadvantages of the contraceptive options available to you, check out the Marie Stopes International guide to contraception.
